Screen Captures

To Capture the Entire Screen (Still Image) in Windows:

  1. Press the Print Screen Key
  2. Open up Paint (Start --> Programs --> Accessories --> Paint)
  3. In Paint, select Edit --> Paste
  4. Save your file as capture1.bmp and exit

To capture only one window and not the whole screen, use Ctrl+Print Screen instead

To Record a Screen Session (Movie File) in Windows:

  1. Verify Windows Media Encoder is Installed
  2. If you don't have it, download it HERE
  3. Start Windows Media Encoder and Select File --> New
  4. Choose Capture Screen --> OK and select either Specific Window, Scrren Section or Entire Screen
  5. Name the file and save it to the Desktop --> Next (It will be saved in WMV format)
  6. Select the File Setting --> Next, then fill in Display Info --> Next --> Finish
  7. Press Start Encoding --> OK. The screen is now being recorded
  8. To Stop the Process, Open WME for the Taskbar and select Stop. Note the new wmv file on the Desktop

Open Source Alternative to Windows Media Encoder
