Extracting files for CSCI 2440Please download the 3 files called JSData1.zip, JSData2.zip and JSData3.zip. These files contain the information needed for the majority of the in-class labs and homework assignments. I strongly suggest saving these files to a USB flash drive. For this example, I will assume these files are downloaded to a USB drive on a Windows XP PC with drive letter G: Open My Computer and go to the G: drive. Right click Data1 and select “Extract”. Run the Extraction Wizard by clicking “Next”, “Next” and “Finish”. This should have created a new folder on the G: drive called JSData1. Repeat this procedure for JSData2 and JSData3. Next, create a new folder called JAVASCRIPT on the G: drive by Selecting File --> New --> Folder from the pulldown menu in G: and name it JAVASCRIPT. Open the JSData1 folder and copy all files and folders to the JAVASCRIPT folder. Repeat for JSData2 and JSData3. At this point, delete the three folders JSdata1, JSdata2 and JSdata3 as well as the compressed folders JSdata1.zip, JSdata2.zip and JSdata3.zip from the G: drive. If you are using an older version of Windows or a different Operating System, you may encounter problems extracting the data from the zipped files. A free 30 day trial version can be download from www.pkware.com/home_and_small_office/downloads/. Please contact the instructor if you have any questions. BACK |
