Extracting files for CIST 2587Please download the 5 files called vid-project1.zip through vid-project5.zip. These files contain the information needed for various in-class labs and homework assignments. I strongly suggest saving these files to a USB flash drive. For this example, I will assume these files are downloaded to a USB drive on a Windows XP PC with drive letter G: Open My Computer and go to the G: drive. Right click Data1 and select “Extract”. Run the Extraction Wizard by clicking “Next”, “Next” and “Finish”. This should have created a new folder on the G: drive called vid-project1. Repeat this procedure for the remaining four files. Next, create a new folder called DigitalVideo on the G: drive by Selecting File --> New --> Folder from the pulldown menu in G: and name it DigitalVideo. Open the vid-project1 folder and copy all files and folders to the DigitalVideo folder. Repeat for the remaining four files. At this point, delete the five folders as well as the five zip files from the G: drive. If you are using an older version of Windows or a different Operating System, you may encounter problems extracting the data from the zipped files. A free 30 day trial version can be download from www.pkware.com/home_and_small_office/downloads/. Please contact the instructor if you have any questions. BACK |
